Named Orlando's Best Literary Reading Series by the readers of the Orlando Weekly, There Will Be Words showcases the best writers Florida has to offer, on the second Tuesday of every month at Gallery at Avalon Island, 39 S. Magnolia in Downtown Orlando. In addition, we also produce limited edition chapbooks every show, where part of the proceeds go towards paying our writers. The show starts promptly at 7pm and runs until 8pm. The event is free.
There Will Be Words is always on the look out for fresh voices in the Central Florida literary scene. We’re looking for the following months for our 2014 season:
April, June-September, November-December are our regular shows. Submit 1000-1500 of your best fiction or non-fiction. Previously published work is acceptable.
March 2014 is our annual flash fiction slam that is open to all. You must have 250 or less word story, a 500 word or less story, and a 1000 word or less story to compete. The winner gets to read at a future There Will Be Words show of their choosing and is eligible for the 2015 Best of There Will Be Words Prize.
October is our annual flash fiction ghost story/horror story show, where eight authors read ghost/horror stories written in 500 words or less. Previously published work is acceptable.
